Water heater repair
A gas water heater with no hot water usually has a failed thermocouple or igniter, a gas-valve problem or a tripped high-limit; an electric unit usually has a failed element or thermostat. Rumbling and popping mean sediment on the bottom of the tank. Water on the floor can be a relief valve, a fitting, or the tank itself, and if it is the tank, no repair will fix it. We tell you which it is and quote a flat-rate price before we start.
- Thermocouples, igniters, gas valves, elements, thermostats, relief valves, expansion tanks and dip tubes
- Honest advice on when a repair is worth it: a 12-year-old leaking tank is not
- Same-day service in most cases across Milwaukee and Waukesha counties
- Every repair guaranteed for one year, parts and labor
Tank water heater replacement
Most Milwaukee homes do well with a quality 40- or 50-gallon gas or electric tank, installed with new supply lines, a proper vent, an expansion tank where the code requires it and a drain pan when it sits over finished space. We haul the old unit away when the job is done.
- Standard atmospheric-vent and power-vent gas models, and electric models for homes without gas
- Same-day or next-day replacement in most cases
- Written price with everything included: unit, parts, haul-away
Tankless and heat-pump water heaters
A tankless water heater gives endless hot water, frees up floor space and can cut water-heating costs, but it needs the right gas line, venting and annual descaling in our hard water. A heat-pump water heater is the most efficient electric option and often qualifies for rebates. We will tell you honestly whether either one makes sense for your house.

Good to know
Frequently asked questions
How long does a water heater last?
Tank water heaters typically last 8 to 12 years in Milwaukee’s hard water; tankless units 15 to 20 with annual descaling. If your tank is past ten and leaking or rumbling, replacement is almost always the better money.
Tank or tankless?
Tankless wins on endless hot water, space and efficiency; a tank wins on lower upfront cost and simpler installation. Big families with back-to-back showers and homes with the gas capacity for it are the best tankless candidates. We give you a price for each so you can decide.
Can you replace my water heater today?
Usually. Standard 40- and 50-gallon gas and electric units are stocked locally, so most replacements happen same day or next day.
Why does my hot water smell or look rusty?
Rusty water usually means the anode rod is used up and the tank is starting to corrode; a rotten-egg smell is bacteria reacting with the anode. A new anode rod can fix a younger tank; an older tank is a replacement.
How much does a water heater replacement cost?
In Wisconsin, replacing a conventional tank water heater averages about $1,667 and a repair about $363, according to HomeServe’s cost data. Tankless and heat-pump models cost more. We give you one all-in written price: unit, parts and haul-away. Sources are in our Milwaukee HVAC price guide.
Are your repairs guaranteed?
Yes. Every repair is guaranteed for one year, parts and labor. If something we fixed fails within that year, call us and we make it right at no charge.
