What we see in Whitefish Bay homes

Whitefish Bay is mostly single-family homes from the 1920s through the 1950s: Colonials, Tudors and Cape Cods, many with hot-water or steam boilers and radiators. Many of these houses added central air later, with ducts squeezed through closets and attics, and the second floor still runs warm in July.

Others never got central air at all, which makes them good candidates for ductless systems. When a boiler is replaced, the chimney and the water heater’s venting have to be rechecked; we do that before we quote, not after.

How we work in Whitefish Bay

Careful work in finished older homes: drop cloths, clean penetrations and honest options. You see the readings, you get a flat-rate price before any work starts, and new systems are permitted when required and tested at startup.

How it works

What happens when you call A-1

1

You call or text, any hour

A person answers 414-595-5175, not a call center. We ask a few quick questions and give you a real arrival window, not a guess.

2

We find the actual problem

We test before we replace anything and show you the readings, so you can see what failed and why.

3

You approve a flat-rate price

You get the price before any work starts, with repair and replacement options in writing when both make sense. No hourly surprises.

4

We fix it, test it and clean up

Most repairs are finished on the first visit. We test the system, clean up after ourselves and explain what we did.

Good to know

Whitefish Bay questions we hear most

Our second floor is always too warm in summer. Can that be fixed without tearing up walls?

Usually. Depending on the house, the answer is a ductless unit upstairs, more return air, or an attic system serving the second floor. We look at the house and lay out the options with prices.

Should I replace my old boiler with a high-efficiency one?

Sometimes. High-efficiency boilers save the most on hot-water systems with the right water temperatures; on steam systems a modern steam boiler is the right replacement. We size it to the radiators in your house and explain the trade-offs.

How fast can you get to Whitefish Bay?

Whitefish Bay is about 30 minutes from our South Milwaukee shop. No-heat calls usually get same-day service, and the emergency line is answered 24/7.

“I’m usually hesitant to call repair companies because I’d rather fix things myself, and it’s hard to know who to trust. Mike was honest, reliable…”
