What we see in Greendale homes
The original 1930s Greendale homes are a special case: compact, solidly built, and often with tight mechanical spaces and utility rooms rather than full basements. Replacing a furnace or adding AC there takes planning for venting and condensate, and we do it without butchering the house.
The postwar ranches around the village are more conventional and are mostly on their second or third furnace. Across all of Greendale we see a lot of oversized air conditioners that short-cycle and never dehumidify, which is a sizing problem we correct at replacement.
