Where a mini-split is the right answer

A ductless system puts a quiet indoor unit in the rooms that need it and an outdoor heat pump on the wall or a pad, connected by a small line set. No ductwork, no lost closet space, no drafty window units. It is the best fit for boiler-heated homes that want air conditioning, finished attics and basements, additions, sunrooms, garages and workshops, and duplex flats that need their own control.

  • Single-zone systems for one room, multi-zone systems for a whole house
  • Wall, ceiling-cassette and floor-mount indoor units to suit the room
  • Cold-climate models rated to keep heating well below zero, with gas backup where it makes sense
  • We size and install systems from leading manufacturers including Lennox, Rheem and Mitsubishi Electric, and service every brand

Installed clean, sized right

The difference between a mini-split you love and one you regret is the install: the right capacity for the room, line sets routed and covered neatly, condensate drained properly, electrical done to code and the system commissioned with the manufacturer’s procedure, not just plugged in. We do it that way and we photograph the work.

  • Free in-home estimate with a written, zone-by-zone proposal
  • Permit and inspection included; line-set covers so it looks finished, not bolted on
  • Focus on Energy instant discounts on qualifying heat pumps; we check your exact model before you buy
  • 0% APR for 18 months through Marine Credit Union on qualifying installs, on approved credit, no down payment, 18 equal monthly payments

Mini-split repair and cleaning

We repair every brand: sensors, boards, fan motors, refrigerant leaks and communication faults. A deep cleaning of the indoor coil and blower wheel every couple of years keeps the unit quiet, efficient and free of the musty smell that dirty mini-splits develop.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Do heat pumps really work in Milwaukee winters?

Modern cold-climate heat pumps keep producing heat well below zero, though their output drops as the temperature falls. In most Milwaukee homes we design them to carry the house most of the winter with the existing furnace or boiler as backup on the coldest nights, which is the most economical setup.

How many zones do I need?

One indoor unit per space you want to control separately. A single-zone system handles one room; a multi-zone outdoor unit can run two to five indoor heads. We walk the house with you and size each zone by its load, not by guesswork.

What rebates are available for a mini-split or heat pump?

For customers of participating Wisconsin utilities, Focus on Energy offers instant discounts on heat pumps that meet its efficiency tiers: participating distributors pay them and the contractor passes them through, so the discount comes off the invoice. We check whether your exact mini-split model is on its qualified list. Income-qualified households may also qualify for the state’s IRA Home Energy Rebates, but most of those must go through an IRA Registered Contractor, so ask any contractor, us included, before you sign. Amounts change; we check what applies to your equipment before you buy.

Can a mini-split replace my furnace entirely?

Sometimes, with a cold-climate system sized for the whole load and electric or gas backup. More often the best value is a hybrid: the heat pump does most of the work and the furnace covers the deep-freeze nights. We will show you both options.

How much does a ductless mini-split cost in Milwaukee?

A single-zone ductless system typically runs $3,200 to $7,500 installed in the Milwaukee area, and a whole-house cold-climate heat pump $7,500 to $14,500, according to 2026 Milwaukee figures from HVAC Project Cost, a cost-estimate website. Multi-zone systems cost more. Those are area averages, not our quotes, and rebates can lower the net cost. Sources are in our Milwaukee HVAC price guide.

Are your repairs guaranteed?

Yes. Every repair is guaranteed for one year, parts and labor. If something we fixed fails within that year, call us and we make it right at no charge.
