What we see in Bayside homes

Bayside incorporated in 1953, and its zoning has kept homes on large, wooded lots ever since. Near the Fairy Chasm ravine along the lake, some of the oldest houses began as rustic cabins built around 1892 and were converted into year-round homes after World War II. Those conversions often kept the original footprint through several additions, which means ductwork pieced together over decades and a furnace that was sized for whatever the house looked like at the time, not the house as it stands today.

The rest of the village is mostly postwar construction on generous lots, much of it now on a second or third furnace, with finished lower levels and additions the original system was never meant to cover. Being close to the lake and the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center keeps summers a little milder than inland Milwaukee County, but a house with uneven airflow still runs warm upstairs and cold in the addition no matter how the breeze is off the water.

How we work in Bayside

A converted cabin or a house built up in stages needs its real airflow measured, not guessed at. We check the ductwork, each addition and the furnace’s actual condition, show you the readings, and give you a flat-rate price before any work starts. New equipment is sized with a load calculation, permitted when the work requires it and tested at startup.

How it works

What happens when you call A-1

1

You call or text, any hour

A person answers 414-595-5175, not a call center. We ask a few quick questions and give you a real arrival window, not a guess.

2

We find the actual problem

We test before we replace anything and show you the readings, so you can see what failed and why.

3

You approve a flat-rate price

You get the price before any work starts, with repair and replacement options in writing when both make sense. No hourly surprises.

4

We fix it, test it and clean up

Most repairs are finished on the first visit. We test the system, clean up after ourselves and explain what we did.

Good to know

Bayside questions we hear most

Our house started as an old cabin near Fairy Chasm and has been added onto more than once. Can you size a system for it correctly?

Yes, but we measure first rather than guess. We check the ductwork for each addition, the return air and the furnace’s actual output, then size any replacement to the house as it stands today, not its original footprint.

Do you work on homes near the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center and the lake bluffs?

Yes, regularly. We’re used to the tree cover and lot access those homes have, and we protect floors and landscaping on every visit.

How fast can you get to Bayside?

About 30 minutes from our South Milwaukee shop, up the lakefront. No-heat and no-cool calls get priority, and we give you a real arrival window when you call; nights and weekends the line rings Mike’s cell.
