What we see in Merton homes

The village of Merton sits inside Waukesha County’s Lake Country, partly within the Town of Merton, and its growth has been almost entirely recent. The village counted just 646 residents in 1970; by 2010 it had reached 3,346, a 74 percent jump in a single decade, and it’s held near that level since, at 3,441 in 2020. Because so much of Merton was built in that stretch, a large share of its roughly 1,050 housing units date to the 1990s and 2000s. Married couples make up more than eight in ten Merton households, and the average household in 2010 ran over three people, more than most new builds.

A newer two-story on a Merton cul-de-sac is usually on its original builder-grade furnace and air conditioner, which is often undersized once a finished lower level or a bonus room gets added after the fact. There are still older farmhouses scattered through Merton from before the subdivisions arrived, and those carry the opposite problem: ductwork that’s been patched and extended over decades rather than sized once for the whole house.

How we work in Merton

We find the real cause before we talk about parts, whether it’s a newer subdivision house or a farmhouse that predates it. You see the readings, you approve a flat-rate price before any work starts, and new equipment is sized with a load calculation instead of guessed at.

How it works

What happens when you call A-1

1

You call or text, any hour

A person answers 414-595-5175, not a call center. We ask a few quick questions and give you a real arrival window, not a guess.

2

We find the actual problem

We test before we replace anything and show you the readings, so you can see what failed and why.

3

You approve a flat-rate price

You get the price before any work starts, with repair and replacement options in writing when both make sense. No hourly surprises.

4

We fix it, test it and clean up

Most repairs are finished on the first visit. We test the system, clean up after ourselves and explain what we did.

Good to know

Merton questions we hear most

Our subdivision home’s lower level was finished after we moved in. Is that why the basement never warms up?

Usually, yes. A finished lower level or bonus room added after the original build is rarely covered by the furnace’s original sizing. We measure the actual airflow and the room before recommending a fix.

We have an older farmhouse in Merton from before most of the subdivisions. Do you still work on homes like that?

Yes, regularly. We check the ductwork and additions on an older Merton farmhouse the same way we would a new build, rather than guessing based on the house’s age.

How fast can you get to Merton?

About 50 minutes from our South Milwaukee shop. No-heat calls get priority, we give you a real arrival window when you call, and the emergency line is answered 24/7.
