What we see in Bay View homes

Bay View is almost entirely 1890s to 1930s housing: bungalows, Polish flats, duplexes, and a few larger homes near the lake. Many were converted from gravity furnaces decades ago and still have the oversized trunks and almost no return air. Hot-water boilers are common.

Basements are low and tight, and that is where we see the worst shortcuts from other contractors: flue problems, condensate drained onto the floor, condensers crammed into gangways with no clearance. We also see a lot of recently renovated homes where the ductwork never got updated to match the new layout.

How we work in Bay View

How it works

What happens when you call A-1

1

You call or text, any hour

A person answers 414-595-5175, not a call center. We ask a few quick questions and give you a real arrival window, not a guess.

2

We find the actual problem

We test before we replace anything and show you the readings, so you can see what failed and why.

3

You approve a flat-rate price

You get the price before any work starts, with repair and replacement options in writing when both make sense. No hourly surprises.

4

We fix it, test it and clean up

Most repairs are finished on the first visit. We test the system, clean up after ourselves and explain what we did.

Good to know

Bay View questions we hear most

Can you put central air in a Bay View bungalow?

If the house already has forced-air ductwork, usually yes, though the return air often needs work first. If it has radiators, a ductless mini-split system is almost always the better answer.

My upper flat is freezing and the lower is fine. Why?

In most Bay View duplexes the upper unit is fed by long, undersized duct runs or a shared system that was never balanced. We measure it and give you the real fix, which is sometimes as simple as dampers and sometimes a dedicated unit.

How quickly can you get to Bay View?

Usually same day, often within the hour for no-heat calls.
