What we see in Sussex homes

Sussex has been a village since 1924, though the area was settled back in 1843, and it has grown steadily as a Waukesha County bedroom community ever since. The result is a real mix: a handful of older homes near the original village center, mid-century houses, and subdivisions built from the 1970s right up through today. In the newer subdivisions, builder-grade furnaces and air conditioners from the 1990s and 2000s are reaching the age where repairs get more frequent and more expensive.

Two-story homes built in the last few decades commonly run on one system sized for the whole house, which tends to leave the upstairs bedrooms warm in summer no matter how low the thermostat goes. Older homes near the village center sometimes still have original ductwork that was never sized for central air, which shows up as weak airflow in the rooms furthest from the furnace.

How we work in Sussex

We find the real cause before we talk about parts, show you the readings, and give you a flat-rate price before any work starts. When a builder-grade system is near the end, we put the repair-or-replace numbers on paper; new equipment is sized with a load calculation instead of copied off the old label.

How it works

What happens when you call A-1

1

You call or text, any hour

A person answers 414-595-5175, not a call center. We ask a few quick questions and give you a real arrival window, not a guess.

2

We find the actual problem

We test before we replace anything and show you the readings, so you can see what failed and why.

3

You approve a flat-rate price

You get the price before any work starts, with repair and replacement options in writing when both make sense. No hourly surprises.

4

We fix it, test it and clean up

Most repairs are finished on the first visit. We test the system, clean up after ourselves and explain what we did.

Good to know

Sussex questions we hear most

Is Sussex really in your service area?

Yes. It’s about 40 minutes from our South Milwaukee shop, and the service call costs the same as anywhere else we work: $99 on weekdays, $179 nights, weekends and holidays, with a flat-rate repair price you approve first.

Our two-story’s upstairs bedrooms are always the warmest rooms in the house. Is that normal?

It’s common, but it’s fixable. We measure the airflow first; the usual fix is more return air, duct balancing or zoning, and only rarely a bigger air conditioner.

How fast can you get to Sussex?

About 40 minutes from our South Milwaukee shop. No-heat calls get priority, we give you a real arrival window when you call, and the emergency line is answered 24/7.
